9 Best Croissants Bakeries in Prague (2026) – Recommended by a baker & local
Prague’s sweet bakery scene has absolutely exploded recently and it’s not just about traditional Czech cakes anymore. We’re talking perfectly laminated croissants that shatter when you bite them, made with real butter and often filled with super innovative flavour fillings.
As a baker, I’m probably more critical than most when it comes to lamination and dough structure, but I’ve done the hard work of tasting my way through the city’s finest bakeries (my expanding waistline can confirm…). Whether you’re after a classic French-style croissant or a modern pistachio cream-filled one, here are my top 9 picks for the best croissants in Prague this year.

1. Maison Gabriella (Palmier Bakery)
If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’m always on the hunt for the perfect pistachio croissant, and I think I’ve finally found the winner at Maison Gabriella. This beautiful French-style deli and bakery opened in Vinohrady in 2023 and it feels like a little slice of Paris.
They use French stone-milled organic flour for their breads, but the pastries are what stole my heart. Their pistachio croissant (95 CZK) is by far the best I’ve had in Prague, the filling is light, creamy and actually tastes like real pistachios rather than just green sugar paste.
I made the “mistake” of sharing one with my mum last time, but believe me, next time I’m coming back and having one all to myself! It’s also a lovely spot to pick up some high-quality French cheese or wine while you’re there.
- Location: Římská 29, 120 00 Prague 2-Vinohrady (just a few minutes walk from Náměstí Míru)
- Opening Times: Monday – Friday: 8 am – 7 pm, Saturday: 9 am – 6 pm, Sunday: Closed
2. Artic Bakehouse
While I’ve raved about their sourdough before, we need to talk about their croissants, because they are honestly on a different level.
As a baker, I’m always looking for that perfect lamination, those distinct, paper-thin layers that shatter when you bite in and Artic Bakehouse gets it right every single time. They use high-quality French butter, and you can really taste the richness.
Their Plain Croissant (70 CZK) is a masterclass in balance: golden and crunchy on the outside, but airy and soft inside.
If you want something more indulgent, their Pistachio Croissant (120 CZK) is a must-try, but my secret favourite is the Nougat Croissant (110 CZK). It’s filled with a mouth-melting Belgian chocolate and nougat blend that is even richer than their standard chocolate version.
They also do an amazing Almond Croissant filled with sweet marzipan and topped with a generous amount of flaked almonds. Because they bake in small batches throughout the day, you can often snag one that is still slightly warm from the oven, which is the ultimate treat!

- Ujezd 11, Lesser Town, Prague 1
- Myslikova 13, New Town, Prague 1
- Stefanikova 31, Smichov, Prague 5
- Na Porici 31, Florenc, Prague 1
- Tylovo Náměstí, Vinohrady, Prague 2
Opening Times: Monday – Sunday: 7 am – 7.30 pm

3. August Bakery
This is a fantastic new addition to the Prague 1 bakery scene and it’s already making big waves. August Bakery is a beautiful, French-style place that has clearly spent a lot of time perfecting their croissant lamination.
The bakery and cafe has spacious, light interior with reasonable amount of seating space and all the bakes displayed beautifully on a shinny counter table. The staff are incredibly friendly and they serve great coffee, which makes it a lovely place to sit for a while.
But of course, you come here for the pastry. The lamination on their croissants is top-tier, they are exceptionally flaky and buttery, exactly how a proper French croissant should be. Whether you go for a classic plain one or one of their filled specials, you won’t be disappointed. This is quickly becoming one of my favourite central places for a morning treat!
- Location: Na Poříčí 1041/12, 110 00 Prague 1 – New Town (just a few minutes walk from Namesti Republiky)
- Opening Times: Monday – Friday: 8 am – 7 pm, Saturday: 9 am – 6 pm, Sunday: 9 am – 5 pm

4. Bread Society
Bread Society is a fantastic new addition to the Prague 5 baking scene and I’d happily walk up the hill to get my hands on one of their cardamon twists!
While their sourdough and breakfast menu are top-notch, their innovative croissant range really steals the show.
I tried their cardamom twist and it was honestly amazing, perfectly sweet with that subtle, warm cardamom flavour coming through without overpowering the rich, buttery pastry layers. Paired with a cup of their fabulous coffee, it makes for the ultimate morning treat if you’re exploring the Košíře area!
- Location: Naskové 1189/1, 150 00 Prague 5 – Košíře
- Opening Times: Monday – Friday: 8 am – 5 pm, Saturday – Sunday: 9 am – 5 pm

5. William & Thomas
This is totally one of my absolute favourite places to get fresh bread in Smichov. This is a lovely bakery opened in 2022 by two enthusiastic owners called Vilem and Tomas, who already have two successful bakery branches in Brno. Like many new artisan bakeries in Prague, they didn’t come from a food background (in fact there are professional golf players and instructors!) and got into baking because they wanted to recreate the wonderful French patisserie that they remembered from their travels.
Croissants are still their main bakes, but they also make amazing sourdough bread, pain de champagne and baguettes. Their speciality is ‘krolac’ which is traditional Czech style ‘kolac’ cake made with croissant dough and Czech type of cake filling. I’ve tried the walnut krolac and it was pure heaven!
Everything is baked freshly on the premises and because the bakery has a certain capacity, not all the products are baked every day. I love that every day, I get to choose from a different range of breads and pastries.
You can also have a takeaway coffee and even eat your pastries in the shop, while you watch the bread being made and baked.
- Location: Plzeňská 3378 /138, 150 00 Prague 5 (5 minutes from Andel Underground Station by tram number 9, 10, 15 or 16, tram stop Klamovka
- Opening Times: Monday – Friday, 7.30 am – 6.30 pm, Saturday 8 am – 4 pm, Sunday – Closed

6. Tisse Bakery
Tisse is the kind of place that makes you realize how far the Prague bakery scene has come. It feels very chic and modern, but the baking is as traditional as it gets.
While they do make excellent sourdough, the real reason I keep coming back—and what I always tell my friends to get—is their pistachio filled croissant. They are absolutely legendary! The pastry is perfectly laminated and flaky and the filling is rich, nutty and generous. It’s a total treat.
They also have a very cool open-plan setup where you can see the effort that goes into every single roll and loaf.
- Location: Krkonošská 1667/14, Vinohrady, Prague 2 (another branch in Nusle and a new one in Smichov)
- Opening Times: Monday – Friday: 7.30 am – 7 pm, Saturday – Sunday: 8.30 am – 7 pm

7. 55 Bakery
This brand new place in Smíchov is run by the same talented team behind the popular The Spot cafes, so you know the coffee and the food are going to be top-notch.
I’ve been really impressed with their selection of sweet buns, especially the almond topped sweet rolls. They have that perfect balance of a soft, brioche-like interior and a crunchy, nutty topping that goes so well with a morning flat white. It’s a great addition to this side of the river, especially if you’re looking for high-quality artisan bakes in a part of Smíchov that’s still growing its foodie credentials.
You should also definitely try their signature Coconut Cream, Mango & Passion Fruit Ribbon, it’s a beautifully flaky pastry shaped like a bow that perfectly balances tropical sweetness with a lovely, tart zing.
- Location: Stefanikova 55, 150 00 Prague 5-Smíchov (Svandovo Divadlo tram stop)
- Opening Times: Monday – Friday: 8 am – 7 pm, Saturday – Sunday: 8.30 am – 7 pm
8. Paté
Paté is one of the most exciting openings of the last year, and as a baker, I find their story fascinating. It’s run by the brothers behind some of Prague’s best restaurants, and they’ve combined French technique with Vietnamese flavours.
While they make an amazing sourdough, their croissants and shokupan (Japanese milk bread) are the real talk of the town.
Their croissants are incredibly light, you can tell they use top-tier butter and filling such as such as pecan, pistachio or chocolate. You also have to try their danish pastries (they are huge!) with creative seasonal fillings that you won’t find anywhere else, such as Yuzu & Plum, Tiramisu or Mango & Sticky Rice.
- Location: Národní 10, Prague 1
- Opening Times: Monday – Friday: 8 am – 7 pm, Saturday – Sunday: 9 am – 6 pm
9. PAUL (French Bakery)
If you’re wandering through the city center, you’ll definitely spot the signature black-and-gold storefront of PAUL.
While it is a larger international chain, I have to admit their croissants are consistently good, they are perfectly flaky and made with that unmistakable French butter.
I particularly like the savoury filled croissants and their regular croissants are great with morning coffee, because they are not too sweet.
I know their prices are on the higher side (expect to pay around 60 CZK for a plain croissant and up to 120 CZK for a pistachio-filled one), but I have a little local secret for you! If you pop in one hour before closing time, they offer a 50% discount on all their fresh bakes to clear the shelves. It’s my favourite way to snag a few treats on my way home without breaking the bank.
- Location: Multiple central locations including Václavské náměstí (Wenceslas Square), Na Příkopě, and the newly opened branch at Masaryk Railway Station (Masarykovo nádraží).
- Opening Times: Typically Monday – Friday: 7 am – 8 or 9 pm, Saturday – Sunday: 8 am – 7 or 8 pm.
